Sgt. Lucrecia D. Turner, age 56, a resident of Eastpointe formerly of Detroit for most of her life, passed away June 20, 2012 at her home in Eastpointe surrounded by her family. She was born August 5, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan. She was a Sargeant and dedicated police officer for the Detroit Police Department where she worked for over 30 years until she retired. In her years with the DPD she worked at many of the precincts. She retired from the 1st Precinct, Central District. Before retiring she worked at the 15th Precinct before it became the 9th. She worked at the 13th Precinct before it closed down and also worked at the 7th the longest. Lucrecia truly loved being a police officer and was also a board member of the Union for police officers. Lucrecia loved collecting elephants of all types and had over 300 of them. Along with protecting and serving the public she enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time in her garden and relaxing and reading. She loved her dogs Diamond, Roxy, Misty, and the cousin dog, Summer.
Loving mother of Sabir R.S. Erby, Toi M. (Gary) Bradley, and Mathew A. Turner-Reed. Grandmother of Gabriel Bradley. Dear sister of Adrian A. Mitchell, Michael Mitchell, Charles Mitchell, Faycolette (Kevin) Keys, George Erby, and Denaro (Denise) Erby. Loved daughter of Naomi Erby. Devoted friend J. R. Rucker. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Predeceased by her brother Larry Mitchell, father, Charles T. Erby, and her best friend Ruthann Walker.
Visitation Tuesday from 1-9PM at the S. K. Schultz Funeral Home, 21705 Gratiot at 8 ½ Mile Road, Eastpointe. Funeral service Wednesday 11:00 AM at the funeral Home.
